Helen was a kind and loving woman who found joy in the simple things. She shared a deep and lasting love with her husband, Vernis, and the two enjoyed a life built on companionship. He would often bring her a rose from her garden, and she would receive it with the same happiness each time. During World War II, she worked as a PBX Operator at Charity Hospital in Lafayette. She was a homemaker who took good care of her family.
She enjoyed sewing and often made clothing for herself and her daughter. She took pride in her garden and spent time tending to her flowers. She was also known for her cooking and baking, always keeping her home open to family. She valued time spent visiting and especially cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Helen is survived by her son, Timothy Boudreaux, her daughter, Cindy B. Perkins; her grandson, Chris Perkins; her granddaughters, Mary Ann Romero and husband Clay, and Lanie LeBlanc; her great-grandchildren, Connor LeBlanc, Tyler LeBlanc, Whitney LeBlanc, Arlynn LeBlanc, Alyssa Romero, and Ethan Romero; and her daughter-in-law, Peggy.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Vernis Paul Boudreaux; her son, Michael Boudreaux; her son-in-law, Louis J. Perkins; her parents, Eraste Derouen and Elodie Bourque Derouen; her brothers, Etienne Derouen, Edwin Derouen, Leonce Derouen, Whitney Derouen, Felix Derouen, and Ulysse Derouen; and her sisters, Zulma LaJaunie, Clara Romero, Odalie Viator, Anna Derouen, Annie Mae Kern, Ida Michel, and Elida Stepp.
