

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Henry “Red” Chambers, age81, at 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Evangeline Funeral Home. Fr. Bill Gearheard will officiate at the services. Interment will be follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Tuesday with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 9:00 am on Wednesday until service time.
A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Chambers passed away at 3:30 pm on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Iberia Medical Center.
Mr. Chambers was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and was employed with Saia Motor Freight for 35 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and visiting his friends around town.
He is survived by two sons, Ronald G. Bourque and Henry L. Charpentier and wife Tina; five daughters, Sarah A. Gaspard and husband Larry; Ida C. Huval and husband Roland; Roxanne Watkins and husband Ricky; Henrietta Chambers and fiancé Keith Bouy and Michelle Chambers and fiancé Dave Goodney all of New Iberia; eighteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren; one sister, Zettie C. Warnock of Houston and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura M. Chambers; parents, Robert and Bertha Delahoussaye Chambers; two brothers, Robert Chambers, Jr. and Isaac Chambers and two sisters, Virginia Cooper and Ida Nora Chambers.
Pallbearers will be Ronald G. Bourque, Henry L. Charpentier, Larry Gaspard, Roland Huval, Ricky Watkins, Keith Bouy and Dave Goodney.
Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Andrus, Donald Owens, Elmer Watikins and his Coffee Club Buddies from Ace Hardware.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial & Honor Program; 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
