NEW IBERIA – A Celebration of Life service will be conducted for Janet Walker Carroll, age 64, at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Evangeline Funeral Home. Joe Phillips will officiate. Interment will follow at Beau Pre Memorial Park.
A gathering of family and friends will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:00 am until the service time.
A native of New Iberia and resident of Lafayette, Mrs. Carroll passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center.
Janet was a kind and generous woman who enjoyed the simple things in life. Some of Janet’s favorite pastimes were arts and crafts, taking pictures, and tending to her flowers. Janet always had multiple potted plants outside on the patio and absolutely loved growing and caring for her flowers. She also greatly enjoyed doing handmade crafts and was well known for her seasonal decoration- all of which she made herself! Janet enjoyed many things in life; but her greatest joy was, was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Her life was lived to ensure that her family had everything they needed. As long as they were happy, she was happy. Her greatest love was the time spent with her children and grandchildren. It was what made her heart the happiest. She will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Barry Carroll; children, Brett Rodrigue (Elena), Cory Broussard (Charlotte), and Lindzi Rodrigue (Sean); step-children, Brian Carroll (Patricia) and Melanie Shammout (Julian); sister, Norma W. Desormeaux (Ronnie); Brother in law (Eddie); twelve grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Dorothy Ferguson Walker; brother, Darryl Walker; and sister, Linda W. Duplantis.
Pallbearers will be Lindzi Rodrigue, Cory Broussard, Brett Rodrigue, Trey Dugan, Sean Harrigan, and Quint Hebert.
Honorary pallbearers will be Craig Morel and Brian Carroll.
