Jennifer Jean Umphries

NEW IBERIA – Funeral services will be celebrated for Jennifer Jean Umphries, age 48, at 12:00 pm on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Deacon Robert Klingman officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm with the rosary at 7:30 pm. The funeral home will reopen on day at 8:00 am Thursday until service time.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Jennifer passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018 at her residence.

Jennifer was employed by the City of New Iberia as a coordinator for New Iberia City Park and Recreation.

She was known to her family and friends as being kind hearted, having a contagious smile that could light up the room and being the life of the party.

She is survived by her father, Don Umphries and his wife Doris; one brother, Todd Umphries and wife Lisa, four sisters, Donna Umphries, Dawn Umphries, Dayna Umphries and Joan Umphries Singleton and husband Patrick; one step brother, Travis DePue; one step sister, Michelle Rogers and husband Shawn; twelve nieces and nephews and three great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Freda La Bauve Umphries; grandparents, John and Enola LaBauve and Michael and Emma Kirsch and her step brother, Troy DePue.

Pallbearers will be Todd Umphries, Christian Umphries, Casey Umphries, Travis DePue, Patrick Singleton, II and Tyler Rogers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Shawn Rogers and Patrick Singleton.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
