

NEW IBERIA – a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for John B. Rogers, age 76, at 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Fr. Garrett Savoie will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Monday from 2:00 pm and will continue all night until time of services on Tuesday. The Rosary will be prayed Monday at 7:00 pm.
John B. Rogers was born April 20, 1938 in New Iberia to the late Adam Rogers and Julia Sedotal Rogers. He passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Regional Medical Center of Acadiana, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. John was an avid bowler and bowled with the Saturday Night Mixers, along with many other leagues at Bayou Pens Bowling Center. He was known for his kind ways and was a friend to all. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his children; Romaine Rogers of New Iberia, Jeanette R. Burke and husband Mark Burke, Sr. of New Iberia, Kenneth “Keno” Rogers and wife Sally Rogers of Glenmora, and Jimmy Rogers of New Iberia; his 15 grandchildren that he adored, Mark Burke, Jr. and wife Erica, Paul Burke, Sheena Burke, Anthony Rogers and wife Amber, Allison Rogers and fiancée Cody Broussard, Aimee Rogers, Kayla Rogers, Ashton Rogers, Jaclyn Rogers, Ripley Rogers, Nicoli Clark, Bailey Rogers, and Brandon Domingue; 15 great grandchildren; and his sister, Elaine R. LeBlanc and husband Albert LeBlanc, Sr. of New Iberia.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Comeaux Rogers; a great grandson, Landyn S. Burke; brothers, J.T., J.C. and Jerry M. Rogers; sisters, Rita Landry and Theresa Judice; and maternal grandmother, Virginia Sedotal.
Serving as pallbearers are Romaine, Jimmy, and Kenneth Rogers, Mark Burke, Sr., Mark Burke, Jr., Anthony Rogers, Paul Burke and Bailey Rogers. Honorary pallbearers are his granddaughters, Brandon Domingue and Albert LeBlanc, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to assist with expenses.
