Kent Joseph LeBlanc, a man of God, whose life was filled with faith, family and love for all, passed away Monday, September 27, 2021 after a valiant fight against covid. He was 50.

Kent was born in Berwick to the late Walter J. “Punchy” LeBlanc and the late Katy Broussard LeBlanc who passed away six weeks before him.

He was employed with Louisiana Machinery (formerly Caterpillar) for the past 27 years and truly loved his work family. He gave his all every day and his passion and love for what he did was reflected by the amount of loyal customers and business that he gained. Kyron recalled going with his daddy on calls and the conversations they shared. It was a great memory that he will cherish always.

As a longtime member of Temple Baptist Church for over 30 years, Kent served on the Treasury and Bus ministry. When speaking with his son, Kyron and his family, they all spoke of his devout Christianity and love of family. Kent gave of himself to his church and to anyone in need.

Outside of his work, Kent spent a great deal of his time with family and in the outdoors. Cutting grass and tending to his plants and flowers around the property brought relaxation and comfort. Kent was also a great cook who loved to prepare hearty meals to share with everyone. As much effort as he spent keeping his yard tidy, he spent the same in his home. He was one of the few men that actually enjoyed cleaning and organizing his home, Kyron shared. He was also a sports fanatic, especially his LSU Tigers, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Pittsburg Steelers.

Above all, his greatest love was family. He leaves a legacy of faith, love and compassion for all that will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Rest well Kent for you have earned his heavenly reward.

Those left to cherish his memory are his former wife of 19 years, Shunda Moore LeBlanc; his only son and best friend, Kyron Joseph LeBlanc; his twin brother, Kim Paul LeBlanc and wife Staci; his father and mother in law, Laverne and Paula Spears; nieces and nephew, Tiffany Elizabeth LeBlanc, Kourtlyn Marie LeBlanc, Taylor Falke, Adaley Borel, Alivia Borel and Cameron Falke; and sisters-in-law, Summer Borel and husband Ryan and Suzanne Maturin and husband Ben.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter J. “Punchy” LeBlanc and by his mother, Katy Broussard LeBlanc who passed away just a little over a month before him.

A funeral service celebrating Kent’s life will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Temple Baptist Church with Pastor Aaron Weido officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held at church from 11:00 am until time of services. Following the funeral, Kent will be laid to rest with his family at Broussard Cemetery in Bayou Petit Anse.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Kyron LeBlanc, Kim LeBlanc, Laverne Spears, Ryan Borel, Johnny Broussard and Clay Broussard. Honorary pallbearers are John Spears, Cameron Falke and Ben Maturin.

Kyron, Kim, Staci & girls... I am so sorry for your physical loss of Kent! My heart is so broken for y'all. I am, however, so THANKFUL to GOD that Kent is with his Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ!!
🙌🙏✝️🛐❤️ I personally will never forget his friendship & all of the fun memories we made in school! Kent was my "clowning buddy" & most of the time, we didn't hear a single word the teacher was saying! 😬🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ I'll never forget that anytime I was worried about something or crying about my boyfriend (who he was friends with & who later became my 1st husband), Kent always knew that something was wrong. Even if I tried to hide it from everyone, he always knew better! With his arm around my shoulder & his head next to the top of my head (he was so much taller than me! Lol), he would very calmly & quietly say..."Ah ah...I know Lynell. So let's talk about it." Then, he'd always do that little "wink" & have that little "Kent grin" on his face! (I can just see & hear him now! 😉) By the time our conversations were done, I'd forget what I was upset over because he'd have me laughing so hard. Gosh...I can see it all now, as I type this in his memory. Kent was always so polite, respectful, kind-hearted, compassionate & fun-loving. He was a remarkable person...Son, Brother, Dad, & Friend. Most of all, Kent was a remarkable Servant of God!
My heart & prayers are with you all...❤️
🙌🙏✝️🛐 Love & hugs to each of you...

The love he had for his son was unbelievable…the love he had for his yard …the love he gave to his mother ..what a blessing….so neat so clean He even came and shampooed my carpets for me. He said I’m come again when I do mine. Of course I had to cook for him. Lol. Just a good hearted person. We will miss him

God’s wisdom his will is final and who am I to question. His choice to bring my friend home baffles me…Kent was a wonderful, kind hearted person…Maybe God needed his help to move a mountain or maybe man the grill in heaven…Kent grilled like nobody’s business…but seriously he will TRULY be missed leaving this place a little sadder…Rest In Peace my friend

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. It was a joy to work with Kent and I will never forget the warmth his smile brought to the office each and every day.  Kent had a tremendous impact on all who got to know him. The office won't ever be the same without him. I will definitely miss all the footballs seasons to come, proving to you the saints are better then the Steelers. Lol (Our favorite thing to do was bash each other's teams). Memories I will definitely treasure. Kent you will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts. Just for you Kent, Go Steelers! Rest in peace my friend.
