It is with great sorrow and deep love that the Fremin family announces the passing of Linda Brown Fremin, our beloved matriarch and a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and dear friend. Linda passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Iberia Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was 78 years old.
Linda was born on June 25, 1947, in Christiansburg, Virginia, to the late Zella Hill Bullock and Willie Ray Bullock, one of five daughters born to their union. During her childhood, Linda traveled throughout the country as her father worked in the oilfield, instilling in her a sense of adaptability and warmth that followed her throughout life. Eventually, she settled in New Iberia, where she built her home, her family, and a life filled with meaningful connections.
Many will fondly remember Linda from her years working at Shell Gas at the corner of Main and Lewis Streets. There, she became a familiar and welcoming presence, greeting customers who often lingered over coffee, conversation, and laughter. Linda cherished those daily visits and the friendships that grew from them. She also shared her talents as a hairdresser in a local beauty shop, where her kind spirit and friendly smile made everyone feel at ease.
Linda’s greatest joy and proudest role was that of a wife, mother, and grandmother. She treasured time spent with her family and friends, fully embracing life’s simple pleasures. An avid bowler, Linda was a member of the New Iberia Bowlers Association and participated in numerous leagues throughout the years. She was also a skilled pool player, belonging to the APA and other local leagues, and loved teaching her grandchildren how to play—moments filled with laughter and lasting memories.
Other pastimes that Linda enjoyed were fishing with her family at her son’s “secret spot,” where she delighted in reeling in her catch, watching her favorite soap operas, playing cards—especially Rook and progressive rummy—sharing stories with her grandchildren, and relaxing with a good book. Her family also fondly remembered her cooking, especially her famous fried chicken and homemade biscuits with white gravy—a cherished recipe passed down from her mother and beloved by all who were fortunate enough to enjoy it. Those meals, made with love, brought family and friends together and will forever be remembered.
While we mourn her physical absence, we find comfort and peace in knowing that Linda now rests in eternal glory in the Kingdom of Heaven, and that one day we will be reunited with her in everlasting peace. Until that time, we will hold her memory close, honor her legacy, and carry her love with us always. Rest well, Linda—you are deeply loved and dearly missed.
