

NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Marian “Goldie” DeRouen, age 83, at 10:00 am Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Fr. Charles Langlois will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Monday from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with the Rosary at 6:30 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Tuesday from 8:00 am until 9:30 am.
Marian was born February 13, 1931 to the late Edwin “T-Beb” DeRouen and Yolande Babineaux Viator and was of 18 children. She passed away on Friday, June 27, 2014 at her residence.
Marian, known by family and friends as “Goldie”, was retired and lived life to the fullest. She had a passion for Cajun music and dancing, shopping, and playing cards and dominoes with her family. Goldie was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend who always had a smile for you. She will be missed dearly.
Survivors include her children, Lisa DeRouen Comeaux (Glen) and Tony DeRouen of New Iberia; her grandson whom she adored, Jacob “Jake” Comeaux of New Iberia; her extended family whom she looked upon as her children and grandchildren, Karl Viator (Lynn), Brenda Moneaux (Boo), Clayton Viator (Monica), Yvette Gondran, Fran Landry (Dirk), Emily Monk (John); Sam, Adam, and Maria Viator, Robert, Franklin “Peanut” and Christopher Moorehart, Kyle, Kristen, and Kaitlyn Viator, Tyler and Mackenzie Gondran, Barrett Broussard, Giles Landry, Jonathan, Shani and Kaylee Monk; her aunt, Mary Dautreuil; and her brothers and sisters, Edias DeRouen, Sr. (Virley), Leslie Lancon (Dean), John Viator, Sr. (Myrtle), Larry Viator (Betty), Diane Theriot (Charles), and Arlen, Richard, Brenda, Jeannie, Julie DeRouen and Linda Dejean.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her companion, Edmond “Pop” Touchet; brothers and sisters whom she was very close to, Carrol Viator, Yvonne Viator, Mary Jane Baudoin and Calvin Viator; aunts and uncles, Rose Migues, Dot Dautreuil, Emily Ancelet, Clarence, Fred, Francis, and Alcide Babineaux; and sisters, Theresa Menard and Jeanette Rials.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tony DeRouen, Jake Comeaux, Clayton, Sam, Karl, and Kyle Viator, Tyler Gondran. Honorary pallbearers are Glen Comeaux, Adam Viator, John Monk and Dirk Landry.
