

NEW IBERIA – In loving memory of Mary Mildred Bernadette Rochon Nee DeBlanc. Mary Bernadette DeBlanc was born on March 2, 1922 to the union of Marie Theresa Landry and David Michael DeBlanc. She departed this life on July 23, 2012 at 1:30 am after a lengthy illness.
Mary, called “Mildred” by family and friends, was married to Peter Rochon on February 11, 1941 at St. Monica Catholic Church in New Orleans, Louisiana. After being kindergarten sweet hearts, the couple shared a happy life, friendship and loving bond for over sixty-one years. This union produced eight children; “Russell” Cameron (Gloria), Carolyn (John), Diana (Edward), Cheryl Sencerae, Peter (Lisa), Madeline (Edward), Terrance and David. Also, eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and godchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father David Michael, mother Marie Theresa, husband Peter, son “Russell”, daughter, Cheryl, sisters; Iola, Wilda, Beretia and Alzenia. Surviving sister Enola departed Wednesday, August 1, 2012 only five days after her death. In addition, preceding her was a much loved grandson, Jason Anthony Martin.
Mildred’s love of family, spirited conversational skills, great cuisine, love of music and dance will be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be Friday, August 3, 2012 at 11:00 am, Evangeline Funeral Home, 314 E. St. Peter Street, New Iberia, LA. Interment and graveside services will be held Friday, August 3, 2012 at 12:30 pm at St. Nicholas Mausoleum in Patoutville, LA.
