Marylyn Gaspard Moneaux

NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mrs. Reley Moneaux, Sr., the former Marylyn Gaspard, age 72, at 11:00 am Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Fr. Mark Derise officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Friday with a Rosary at 6:30 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Saturday until service time.

A native of Jefferson Island and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Moneaux passed away at 4:15 am on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Moneaux was very faithful and prayed the rosary daily. She enjoyed French and Zydeco music and singing and dancing. She was an awesome cook, loved to bake and was an excellent self-taught seamstress. She always put her family first and will be missed dearly by all of them.

Mrs. Moneaux is survived by her husband of 57 years, Reley Moneaux, Sr. of New Iberia; four sons, Reley “Boo” Moneaux, Jr. and wife Brenda of Erath; Ricky Moneaux and wife Rita of New Iberia; Rodney Moneaux, Sr. and wife Laurie of New Iberia and Marshall Moneaux and Shannon Walker of New Iberia; five daughters, Bernadine Cox and husband Jim of Youngsville; Vernadine “Sister” Moneaux of Princeton, TX; Vicky Sowers and husband Micheal of Erath and Bernice Moneaux and Jarred Christinsen of New Iberia and Patrina Moneaux and Adrian Maynard of New Iberia; twenty three grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren with one more expected in March.She is also survived by three brothers, John Ronald Gaspard, Ronnie Gaspard and Paul Gaspard all of New Iberia and one sister, Verla Gonsoulin of Monroe.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Olympa Bourque Gaspard Sr.; brothers, Otis Gaspard, Jr., Eutis Gaspard, Herman Gaspard and Harold Gaspard; sisters, Laura Simon, Theresa Hayes and her twin sister, Marie Gaspard.

Pallbearers will be Reley Moneaux, Jr., Ricky Moneaux, Rodney Moneaux, Sr., Marshall Moneaux, Ned Nugier, Jr. and David Moneaux.
