Melba Ballard Bonvillain

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mrs. Melba Ballard Bonvillain, age 78, at *** am Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Rev. Nancy Wofford officiating. Interment will follow at Beau Pre Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Wednesday, October 10, 2012. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Thursday and visitation will continue until service time.

A native of Texas and a resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Bonvillain passed away at 4:17 am on Tuesday, October 09, 2012 at her residence.

Melba enjoyed gardening and reading. She also loved her work as a tax preparer. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Leslie M. Bonvillain of Jeanerette; sons, Leslie Paul Bonvillain of Baton Rouge, Marcus Bonvillain and wife Gena of New Iberia, Derek Alan Bonvillain of New Iberia, Kenneth Douglas Bonvillain and wife Jan of Jeanerette; daughter, Carla Glyn Bonvillain of New Iberia; brother, Larry Ballard of Pasadena Texas; sisters, Elinor Glyn Stoffer of Groves, Texas, twin sister, Wanda Marilyn Hebert of Pasadena, Texas; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin Ballard and Naoma McIntyre Ballard; brother, Mac Ballard and sisters Kaye Ballard and Marjorie Martin.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
