Ned Joseph Broussard

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Ned Joseph Broussard, age 76, at 4:00 pm Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Deacon Chris Doumit officiating. Interment will be held at St. Nicholaus Cemetery with military honors by VFW Post #1982.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Saturday with a Rosary at 3:30 pm.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Broussard passed away at 10:00 pm on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Iberia Medical Center.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Peggy Verret Broussard of Jeanerette; two brothers, Leroy Broussard and wife Nancy of Pearson, Georgia and George Broussard of New Iberia; sister, Dorris Haydel and husband Earl of Reserve, Louisiana as well as numerous Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Aymar and Noemi Broussard; brothers Ulysse “Pie” Broussard, Tarlton Broussard and Sullie Broussard; sisters May Bourgeois, Annette Barilleaux, Avia Landry, Sylvia Barrilleaux and Avie Segura Baldwin.

Ned worked for Standard Supply and Voorhies Supply for many years. After retirement he worked for Freyou Farms and Blanchard Brothers. Ned was proud of his service with the United States Army in the Koren War.

Mr. Broussard was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
