

LOREAUVILLE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Nicholas “Pop Nick” LeBlanc, Jr., age 77, at 3:00 pm Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Fr. Buddy Breaux will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in Broussard Cemetery in Bayou Petit Anse.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with the Rosary being recited at 6:30 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Wednesday from 9:00 am until 2:30 pm.
A native of St. Martinville and resident of Loreauville, Mr. LeBlanc passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at his residence, with his family at his side.
“Pop Nick”, as he was affectionately called, started his career as a welder/fitter and worked his way up to fabrication superintendent. He began with Red Fox, having worked with other oilfield companies, and retired with Superior Derrick. As a young man, he played high school football in St. Martinville. He was an avid LSU and Saints fan. He loved the outdoors, whether it was hunting or fishing, or tending to his vegetable garden. He was also known for his cooking and often tried new recipes. He will be missed dearly.
He is survived by his son, Terry LeBlanc of New Iberia; step-children, Timmy Trahan (Jennifer), Tony Trahan, and Cindy Breaux (Pat); his grandchildren, David, Daniel, Vickey, Nicholas, Michael, Jade and Patrick LeBlanc, Kyle and Courtney Breaux, and Austin and Taylor Trahan; numerous great grandchildren; and his sisters and brothers, Mary Lou Frederick and Dorothy Jeansonne of Parks, and Aline Braquet (Larry) of Loreauville, Nelson LeBlanc (Betty) of New Iberia, Charles LeBlanc (Dale) and Bobby LeBlanc (Julie) all of St. Martinville; his loving companion Dorothy Mitchell of Killian; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janis Trahan LeBlanc; his two sons, Patrick Lynn and Michael Dean LeBlanc; and his parents, Nicholas LeBlanc, Sr. and Emelie Landry LeBlanc.
Pallbearers will be Terry LeBlanc, Larry Braquet, Nelson LeBlanc, Robert Perez, Charles LeBlanc, and Austin Trahan. Honorary pallbearers will be David and Nicholas LeBlanc, Alex Theriot, Timmy Trahan, and Chris Romero.
