

NEW IBERIA – Funeral services will be conducted for Rayette Domingue Morton, age 44, at 1:00 pm Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Evangeline Funeral Home. Pastor David Hefflin, Third and Kilgore Church of Christ in Portales, New Mexico, with officiate. Interment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm, and will resume on Thursday from 8:00 am until services.
A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Morton passed away on Friday, April 22, 2011.
Rayette was born November 14, 1966 to Theodore and Meta Domingue. She worked as a school bus driver for over 10 years with the Desert Sands Unified School District and received recognition in 2010 for outstanding service. Rayette was currently driving school buses for the Iberia Parish School Board.
She was a member of the Church of Christ in Palm Springs, CA. Rayette also loved camping and was able to visit many beautiful parks while living in California. She leaves behind many fond memories that will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Patrick D. Morton of New Iberia; her children, Patrick D. Morton, Jr. of Okinawa, Japan and Hollie Ray Morton Lamberte and husband Eric of Orgeron; a brother, Theodore “Ted” Domingue, Jr. and wife Debbie; five sisters, Gloria Morvant, Valerie Moore and companion J.D. Bouillion, Tammy Robicheaux and husband David, Deborah “Debbie” Tassin and husband David, and Sarah Alderman all of New Iberia; mother-in-law, Nadine Morton or Erath; brother-in-law, Brian Morton of Erath; and sister-in-law, Kathleen Morton of Desert Hot Springs, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Meta Domingue; her sister, Judy Leger; and father-in-law, Terry Morton.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Morton, Kevin Rochon, Brennan Jackson, Aron Leger, Ivan Domingue, Brian Boss. Honorary Pallbearers will be Matthew Tassin, Bradley Moore, Broc Bergeaux, Darin Daniels Jr.
Memorial contributions may be made in Rayette’s name to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 3100 Samford Ave., Shreveport, LA 71103 or to a Shriners hospital in your area.
