

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Richard Lee Pellerin, Sr., age 77, at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Fr. Keith Landry officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 am until time of service with a Rosary at 11:00 am.
A native of Breaux Bridge and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Pellerin passed away at 9:20 am on Monday, January 16, 2017 at Iberia Medical Center, on the 9th year anniversary of his wife’s death.
Mr. Pellerin was a member of the LA Army National Guard. He was very involved in the community, serving on the Sugarcane Festival Assoc., Veteran Memorial Board and NIRD Pee Wee Football Board. He and his wife Dianne were active members of the New Iberia Jaycees and were elected Honorary Jaycee and Jane of the Year and he was inducted into the NIRD Softball Hall of Fame in 2008.
Mr. Pellerin enjoyed cooking for his family, friends and organizations, including the Council on Aging and Pit and Pot Supper Club. He also enjoyed Saints football, playing cards and outings to the casino.
He is survived by his children, Richard Pellerin, Jr. and wife Margaret of New Iberia; Chad Pellerin and wife Lindsay of Youngsville; Kevin Pellerin of New Iberia and Leah Pellerin Ford of Portland, OR; seven grandchildren, Heather Baublit, Shainah Ford, Cameron Pellerin, Conner Pellerin, Harbor Pellerin, Dominique Pellerin and Emma Pellerin; three great grandchildren, Regan Baublit, Tatem Baublit and Izeyah Ford; one sister, Ione Pellerin Horn of San Antonio, TX; two brothers, Jerry Pellerin and wife Janelle of St. Martinville and Carol Pellerin of Arizona; and one brother in law, Ulysses Lasseigne of St. Martinville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dianne Bonin Pellerin; one daughter, Rochelle Pellerin; parents, Abel and Laura Castille Pellerin; three brothers, Leston Pellerin and wife Billie; Herman Pellerin and wife Mary and Gordon Pellerin and wife Gloria and two sisters, Ethel P. Lasseigne and Gloria P. Berard and husband Clarence.
Pallbearers will be Richard Pellerin, Jr., Chad Pellerin, Cameron Pellerin, Richard Daigle, David Nelson and Chancey Nelson.
Conner Pellerin, Harbor Pellerin, Izeyah Ford, Wayne Dugas, Dominique Pellerin, L.J. Bonin, Jr., “Beefy” Broussard and Tatem Baublit will serve as honorary pallbearers.
