

NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Rita Ann Doucet Culotta, age 66, at 10:00 am Saturday, October 24, 2015 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Fr. Nicholas DuPre’ will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Friday from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with the Catholic Daughters leading the Rosary at 6:30 pm. Visiting will resume on Saturday from 8:00 am until 9:30 am.
Rita, a resident of New Iberia, was born April 8, 1949 in Jennings, LA. She passed away Thursday, October 22, 2015 at her residence, with her loving family at her side.
Rita was a homemaker who loved going to the movies, quilting, Christmas shopping, and cooking and sharing meals with her family. She will be missed dearly.
Memories of Rita will forever be remembered and cherished in the hearts of her surviving husband of 48 years, Louis James Culotta, Sr., son Louis James Culotta, Jr. of Australia, grandson Louis (Boogie) James Culotta, III, and granddaughter Emily Ann Culotta; three sisters, Claire Hebert Breaux and husband Rudy of Loreauville, Marie Hebert Breaux and husband Richard of New Iberia, Nancy Hebert Guillotte and husband Cordell of Houston, Texas; and a brother, Paul Hebert and wife Shelley of New Iberia. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Marie Louise Wagner Battaglia and brother-in-law Sam Culotta, III; 17 nieces and nephews, 23 great nieces and nephews, and 8 great-great nieces and nephews.
Rita was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Prejean Hebert, step-father Freddie R. Hebert, sister Rhoda Hebert Castille, grandson Byron Culotta, father-in-law Sam Culotta, Sr., and brother-in-law Wayne Culotta.
Pallbearers will be members of the family.
