Rivers Joseph Menard

NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mr. Rivers Joseph Menard, age 92, at 2:00 pm Friday, December 16, 2016 at Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Melancon officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday with a Rosary at 6:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 10:00 am on Friday until service time.

A native of Beaumont, TX and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Menard passed away at 5:15 am on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Consolata Nursing Home.

Mr. Menard spent his life as a sugar cane farmer. He enjoyed gardening and being outdoors and had a love for animals. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 67 Years, Emily Romero Menard of New Iberia; two daughters, Lou Anna M. LeBlanc of Atlanta, GA and Tammy M. Soirez and husband Carl of New Iberia; two sons, Jay Menard and Wife Mary of TN and Jerry Menard and wife Melanie of Cade; seven grandchildren, Amanda Sonnier and husband Brad; Mikel Menard and wife Saori; Jamie Menard; Owen Ambrose and wife Priscilla; Meena Breaux; Eric Soirez and Corey Soirez and four great grandchildren, Krystyan Menard; Kaleb Menard; Noah Menard and Ryker Ambrose.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clerphe and Amanda Stutes Menard; five sisters, Anna Mae Fountain, Mary Bernice Williams, Lauris Lombardo, Olga Spicuzza and Mae Gemelli and three brothers, Dudley Menard, Gordy Menard and Doris Menard.

Pallbearers will be Jay Menard, Jerry Menard, Brad Sonnier, Owen Ambrose, Carl Soirez and Eric Soirez.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Consolata Nursing Home and Heart of Hospice for the excellent care given to Mr. Menard.
