Sofie Suire Gary

New Iberia - Funeral services will be conducted for Sofie Suire Gary, age 63, at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 4, 2011 at Evangeline Funeral Home. Fr. Paul Onuegbe will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Monday from 9:00 am until services.

A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Gary passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Camelot of Broussard.

Mrs. Sofie was born December 3, 1947 in Erath to Preston and Agnes Gary Suire, who preceded her in death. Sofie was retired from the Evangeline Steak House in Lafayette with 29 years of service. She was a devoted wife, loving niece, cousin and friend and will be missed dearly.

Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Francis Gary of Broussard; her aunts, Elsie Derouen, Irma Bodin, and Celeste Suire all of New Iberia, and Uvie Toups of Independence, LA; and many cousins and friends.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Weston Suire.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
