

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mrs. Thelma Ellender, the former Thelma Wells, age 75, at 11:00 am Friday, June 14, 2013 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Mr. Paul Fontenot of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Beau Pre Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Thursday. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Friday and remain open until service time.
A native of Amite, Louisiana and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Ellender passed away at 11:15 am on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at her residence.
Mrs. Ellender ran the family business from her home for many years. She loved gardening, crafts, going to the casino and spending time with her family, especially her grandbabies.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald T. Ellender of New Iberia; daughter, Debbie Smith of Lafayette; brothers, Howard Wells and wife Joyce of Little Rock, Arkansas, Willie Wells and wife Sis of Denham Springs; sisters, JoAnn Miller and husband Bruce of Denham Springs, Nancy LaBat and husband Gerard of Milton, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Wells and Emma Casanova Wells; son, Brian Ellender; daughter, Brenda Ellender; sister, Mary Bidwell and brother, George Wells.
Pallbearers will be Seth LeBlanc, Allen Theriot, Harry Roger, Mickey Smith, Willie Wells and Gerard LaBat.
