Theresa Hebert Segura

NEW IBERIA – A gathering of family and friends will be held to celebrate the life of Mrs. Joseph “J.C” Segura, the former Theresa Hebert, age 86, from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Evangeline Funeral Home in New Iberia. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

A native of St. Martinville and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Segura passed away at 8:20 pm on Monday, September 12, 2016 at New Iberia Manor South.

Born on December 31, 1929 to the late Auril and Antoinette Badeaux Hebert, Theresa was one of four children. Theresa enjoyed doing puzzles and would often sit for hours, alone or with family, working on her puzzles. She was also a great cook who valued the old fashioned way of preparing food. Her daughters fondly remember Mrs. Theresa’s delicious bread and how she never followed a recipe. Theresa never met a stranger and loved to make new friends. Her kind and caring nature lead her to open her doors to anyone in need – and that was especially true of animals. She loved her pets: Tiny, a Chiweenie, and Skippy, a German Shepard mix, as if they were her own children. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Theresa will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters, Joan Guilbeau and husband Edwin “Chico” of New Iberia, Roxanne Nguyen of New Iberia, Antoinette Delcambre and husband Leslie of New Iberia, Barbara Darby and husband Terry of New Iberia, Patricia “Pat” Broussard of Breaux Bridge, and Belinda Thibodeaux and husband Timmy of New Iberia; son, Wilmer “Blackie” Segura and wife Anne of Texas; twenty-one grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of over sixty years, Joseph “J.C” Segura, Sr., sons, Jimmy Segura, Bob Segura, and Joseph “Joe” Segura, Jr.; parents, Auril and Antoinette Hebert; great grandchild, Kristen Viator; sisters, Stella Tyler and Marie Louviere; brother Louis Hebert.
