COTEAU- Timothy "Timbo" James Maturin Jr., age 31, of New Iberia, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025. He was born in New Iberia to Arlean Bonin Maturin and the late Timothy Maturin Sr.
Timbo was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, whose presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
Timbo had a deep love for life and was passionate about the simple joys that brought him happiness. He loved spending time fishing, whether on the shores or out on the open water. His love of baseball was only rivaled by his loyalty to the Dallas Cowboys. But above all, he cherished time spent with his family, always finding joy in being together with those he loved. Timbo was a hardworking man, having spent many years in the oilfield where he took pride in his work, doing various jobs with dedication and commitment. His strength and determination were felt in everything he did, and his work ethic was something that inspired all who worked alongside him.
He is survived by his son, Brody Maturin; his daughter, Brea Maturin; his mother, Arlean Bonin Maturin; his brother, Joshua Maturin (Allyce Good); his sisters, Tiffany Castillo and Amber Maturin (Rocky); his brothers-in-law, Eric Viator and Rishawn Castillo Sr; and his grandmother, Joanna Bonin. Timbo will also be missed by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Timothy Maturin Sr.; his grandparents, Wilbert Bonin, Johnny and Gloria Maturin; his honorary grandparents, Irvin and Amelina Bergeron; his patin, Shane Bergeron; aunt, Ivy Meyers; and his cousin, Braton Maturin.
A visitation to honor Timbo’s life will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 4:30 PM to 11:00 PM. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM on the same day. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Our Lady of Prompt Succor. Interment will follow at Broussard Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brody Maturin, Joshua Maturin, Slaydan Antoine, Shaun Bergeron, Hayden Theriot, Hunter Theriot, Chance Maturin, Coty Maturin, and Cannon Maturin. Honorary pallbearers will be Rocky Bourque Sr., Rocky Bourque Jr., Kaysum Maturin, Rhemi Castillo, Rishawn Castillo Jr., Rifle Bourque, Caine Hyde, and Eric Viator.
Timbo will be forever remembered for his generous spirit, his love of family, and his unwavering loyalty. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
