

NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Wilfred Joseph Lancon, age 90, at 1:30 pm on Monday, February 28, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Fr. Jude Thierry will officiate the services. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Loreauville with a Flag Presentation by the VFW Post #1982 Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Sunday with a Rosary at 6:30 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Monday until service time.
A native of Franklin, raised in Lydia and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Lancon passed away at 3:00 pm on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Iberia Medical Center.
Mr. Lancon was a WWII Veteran of the US ARMY. He was an automobile mechanic for more than 60 years and owned East Main Auto Repair and then Lancon’s Auto Repair. He was a member of the Independent Garage Owners, American Legion, Woodmen of the World and the New Iberia Boat Club. He was also a faithful member of Our Lady of Perpetual help Catholic Church where he often volunteered and helped the Bereavement Committee.
Mr. Lancon was a very happy person who enjoyed being around people, entertaining and cooking for large groups. He liked being outdoors, gardening, shrimping and traveling. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Mr. Lancon is survived by his children, Patramae “Pat” L. Boutte and her husband Ronald; Charlene Lancon and Reagan Lancon all of New Iberia; four grandchildren, Realyn L. Carr of Florida; Chantelle L. Harris of Reeves, LA; Sheree L. Tisdale of St. Martinville and Adam Lancon of New Iberia. He is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alizia Borres Lancon; two daughters, Trinda Ann Lancon and Delva L. Romero; parents, Albert and Marie David Lancon; two brothers, Antoine and Adonis Lancon and four sisters, Avie Meyers, Manilla Comeaux, Clelie Meyers and Louise Pichoff.
