

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. William “Bill” B. Rowell, age 85, at 1:00 pm Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Evangeline Funeral Home with David Jeffreys officiating. Interment will be held at Holy Family Mausoleum with military honors by VFW Post #1982.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon Saturday until service time.
A native of Thomasville, GA and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Rowell passed away at 1:45 am on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Dauterive Hospital.
Mr. Rowell was a Veteran of the US Army, who served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was employed with AT&T for more than 45 years and retired as a Regional Manager. He was a longtime member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing with his sons. He was a member of the Federation of Fly Fisher’s and the New Orleans Fly Fisher’s and served those organizations as President. He left behind a wonderful legacy for his family and will be missed dearly by them.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marjorie Whitley Rowell of New Iberia; two sons, Bill Rowell and wife Karen of Johnson City, TN and Jim Rowell and wife Kerri of New Iberia and four granddaughters, Diana Rowell; Abbie R. Stanley and husband Nathan; Tate Rowell and Errin Rowell.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Henry Rowell, Jr.; mother, Lucille Heald Duncan and his grandparents who raised him, William Henry and Lillian Rambo Rowell, Sr.
