He was born on July 20, 1938, in Westbrook, the son of Donald Austin Johnson and Eileen Hoadley Johnson.
Donald served in the US Navy. He graduated from Morgan High School and from Three Rivers Community College with an associates degree. He retired from Eversource. Donald's hobbies were collecting models of old cars and singing in a quartet. He loved UCONN Husky women's basketball, NASCAR racing, and loved baseball, especially his Mets.
Donald is survived by his children Cindy Korteweg and her husband Dan of Mystic and Michael Johnson of Waterford; siblings Bill Johnson of Arizona and Richard Johnson of Florida; grandchildren Eric and Aaron Korteweg, Jayden and Nathaniel Johnson; great grandchildren Abby, Luke, Isaiah, Laelah, Tatum, Hannah, and Reis.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Maryellen Johnson and his sister Cathy Fields.
