Dick was born June 13, 1941 in Lockport, New York, the son of Charles Sanford and Mable Robinson Sanford. He honorably served in the United States Navy for 22 years until his retirement in 1990. Afterwards, he worked in the Maintenance Dept. at the Waterford Country School.
Dick was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Charlotte Grant Sanford, two brothers, and a sister. He is survived by 3 brothers and a sister. The most joy he received was out of the love and times spent with his 3 children and 9 grandchildren - Michael Sanford (Debbie Atallian) and his children David and Peter; Rich Sanford Jr. (Monica ChristinaSanford) and his children Alyson and Matthew; Christa Sanford (Jon Sanford) and her children Melissa, Andrew, Hannah, Owen, and Charlotte.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2014, at the Jordan Cemetery in Waterford at 11 am. There are no calling hours.
