

Angeline M. Ioup, 97, fell asleep in the Lord on Thursday June 23, 2011 at Lambeth House in New Orleans. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Elias George, her parents Right Rev. George and Zakiya Kattouf, siblings Habeeb, Louise, Helen, Josephine, and Mitchell, and daughter-in-law Jean Ioup. She is survived by her loving children Dr. George (Dr. Juliette), Dr. Georgette, and William, grandchildren Carol Mashamesh, Maria Shealy (Jack), Dr. Elias (Sarah), Alec, and Emily Ioup, and many nieces and nephews.
Angeline was born in 1913 in Charleston, W.VA but the family moved to Altoona, PA in 1924 where her father founded St George Antiochian Orthodox Church. She married in 1938 and she and her late husband were proprietors of the Old Dutch Grill for 40 years. She moved to New Orleans in 2007 to be near her children.
Angeline’s devotion was to her family and St George church where she has been a member since 1924. In 1926 she became a charter member of the St Mary’s Ladies Society at St George and served as recording secretary from 1950 to 2001. She sang in the St George choir from 1967 until 2006. For her dedication and hard work at St George she received two Archdiocese Meritorious Service awards. Since moving to New Orleans, she has also become a member of St. Basil Antiochian Orthodox Church. She was recently inducted into the Archdiocese Order of St. Ignatius of Antioch.
Visitation will be Monday, June 27 from 6 to 9 pm at Schoen Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St, New Orleans. Funeral and burial will be in Altoona, PA.
