

On Monday, January 27, 2014, Don Charles Miller passed away at the age of 71 at Gulfport Memorial Hospital, Gulfport, MS. He was born on October 26, 1942, to Richard Joseph Miller and Alice Strauss Miller. He was born and raised in New Orleans, LA, and a current resident of Diamondhead, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard Miller. Mr. Miller is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Dianne Yokum Miller and his daughters, Melinda Alice Miller and Alison Miller McCraw, and son-in-law, Jon Terry McCraw, sister Lynda Miller Eurissa (Willis), brothers-in-law, Edward L. Yokum Jr. (Judi), Mitchell A. Yokum, and Brian A. Yokum (Susan), and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a 1960 graduate of John McDonogh Senior High School, New Orleans, LA, and received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Accounting from Southeastern Louisiana University, Hammond, LA. He served in the United States Navy from 1968-1972 as an Aviation Machinist Mate Third Class.
He was a long time federal employee with the National Credit Union Administration, retiring from the National Data Buoy Center at Stennis Space Center. He was an avid gardener, carpenter, and mechanic and never came across a machine he could not fix. He enjoyed his retirement and playing with his furry friends, Rosie, Rufus, and little Eddie.
Visitation will take place Saturday, February 1, 2014, at Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA from 10am until 1pm followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1pm with Father John Talamo, pastor of St. Andrew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Algiers, LA, presiding.
Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Canal Blvd. in New Orleans, LA.
