Sorry to hear of Jewel's passing.  She was a very sweet lady and I was glad to have had the pleasure of her company while at the St. Patrick's Day parades.  Gerald and Jeanne, so sorry for your loss.

Jewel Ann Dawson was my first friend.  We knew each other all of our lives, in Lakeview. . .even 'tho I was a summertime & holiday visitor to New Orleans.  We walked to the Beacon and Christmas Caroled around the neighborhood, whether it was Christmas or not. We talked about dancing (her love), musical theatre and opera (my love), and theatre & movies (the loves of both of us).  She introduced me to Elivis; I introduced her to Rodgers and Hammerstein.   I gave Jewel Ann her first driving lesson in Bay St. Louis; we ended up in a ditch! We went to London together.  I entertained Jewel Ann and Margie from the porch swing on my grandmother's porch f, or hours.  My aunt took us to church, then she took us to get a snowball and then to Pontchartrain Beach.  (Church was part of the deal.) There are so many memories.  I never see a Four O' Clock without thinking of Jewel Ann; I always think about her when riding on the street car and having it pass in front of a Catholic Church and remember doing the same with Jewel Ann and her crossing herself. . .something unusual to this Mississippi Sou. Baptist.  And, I'll always think of her ushering the patrons of Tulane Summer Lyric Theatre to their seats in Tulane's Dixon Hall.  But, most of all, I guess I'll remember Jewel Ann in great conversations with my mother. . .you see, she was not only my friend but a special friend of my mother's.  Jewel Ann, I know you and Miss Marie are having great catch-up conversations in Heaven now. Don't tell everything until I get there.  Love, Ann Bryant Whittemore

Mr. Jerry, Jeanne and famly, I am so sorry for your loss.  She was a wonderful, sweet person that will be missed by all who knew her.  My prayers are with you always.

Mr. Jerry, Jeanne and family, my sincerest condolences to all of you.  I have very fond memories of time spent with Ms. Jewel in Waveland, and her roast recipe that made a newbie cook look like she knew what she was doing when she very much did not.  My prayers are with you all in this difficult time.

Dear Jerry and Jeanne, I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of Jewel, my deepest sympathy goes out to both of you for the sadness you are feeling.
