John Malachy Cosgrove, O.P.

Brother John Malachy Cosgrove, O.P., a member of the Dominican Province of St. Martin de Porres died at the age of 79 on Friday, February 25, 2011 at Our Lady of Wisdom Healthcare Center in New Orleans where he resided since 2000. A native of Philadelphia, PA, he entered the Dominican Novitiate in 1952 and professes Solemn Vows in 1959. A Dominican Brother for over 58 years, he served in ministries in Somerset, OH, Philadelphia, PA, Chimbote, Peru, New Haven, CT, New York, NY, St. Dominic Priory New Orleans (1980), Dallas, TX, Houston, TX, Humble, TX and Providence, RI. Preceded in death by his parents, Catherine Mary Gaynor Cosgrove and Patrick Joseph Cosgrove, and two sisters, Sister Mary Cosgrove, R.S.M. and Patricia J. Carmody, Brother is survived by two brothers, John William Patrick Cosgrove and Leo Francis Cosgrove.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Wisdom Chapel, 5600 General De Gaulle Drive, New Orleans, LA. on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 9:30 A.M.

A Vigil Service will be prayed at Our Lady of Wisdom Chapel on Monday, February 28, 2011 at 7:00 P.M. Interment will be in the Dominican Friars Cemetery, Rosaryville, Ponchatoula, LA on a later date. Arrangements by Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home.
