Patricia May Whittaker

Patricia Hebert Whittaker passed away on Sunday, May 26 at her home in Metairie, Louisiana, three days before her 82nd birthday. Beloved wife of the late T.J. Whittaker, Jr. Loving mother of the late Jay Tingley, Scott Whittaker (Wendy), and Grant Whittaker. Adoring grandmother of Grant Tingley, Rachel and Jenna Whittaker. Daughter of the late Grace Hebert Delhom and Eli Hebert. Stepdaughter of the late Jean Julian Delhom. Sister of the late Ross Melvin Hebert and stepsister of the late Doris Delhom Fresh and Bernard J. Delhom, Sr.

She and her late husband, T.J. Whittaker, were two of the four co-founders and co-owners of Lake Castle Private School, where she taught religion and other subjects for many years. She was renowned for her baking. Her cakes stole the show at countless family gatherings and will be sadly missed. Her famous peach cake even appeared on the menu of several New Orleans area restaurants. Her loving heart went out to every living thing, whether on two legs, four legs, wings or fins. She especially loved her dogs, and owned many through the years. She was a dedicated blood donor and an avid reader. Her fun-loving, easy going and unconditionally loving spirit touched many, and her memory will be treasured by family and friends alike.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at Schoen Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, Louisiana, to be held from 9:00 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, May, 30th. A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m., following the visitation, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Internment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
