Richard Charles Weixel Sr.

Richard Charles Weixel, Sr., a World War II Navy Veteran, General Contractor, former Todd Johnson and Higgins Shipyard machinist, passed away on Friday, February 11, 2011 at the age of 91. He is survived by his beloved companion, Martha Cutrer; four children, Carolyn Weixel Medley (Dale), Richard C. Weixel, Jr. (Merlyn), Judy Ann Weixel and Leo Lawrence Weixel; two sisters, Edna Gristina and Norma Glynn;

nine grandchildren, Brian Bavido, Sam Bavido (Chaille), Christie Salaun (Kenny), Richard S. Weixel (Rosa) Susan Wolcott (Beau), Dana Boihem, Leslie Seguin (Sean), Melanie Strecker (Josh) and Troy Weixel; fourteen great grandchildren, Sal, Amy, Ashley, Gabrielle, Isaac, Elijah, Caleb, Aubrey, Katie, Molly, Danielle, Savannah , Madison, Mia and Mira. He was a very proud and loving grandfather and great-grandfather. He was also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Leocadie Vallac Weixel.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass to be celebrated in the Chapel of Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 12:00 Noon with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m.
