Roger Dale Louis Cottrell was born November 11, 1955 in Memphis, Tennessee and went home to his Lord Jesus on December 18, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Harry Cottrell and Marie Louise Rice Cottrell.
Roger Louis had a big heart with many gifts and talents and loved sharing these with anyone. He was an artist who painted murals in several New Orleans homes and had a natural instinct in knowing how to arrange pieces of artwork to bring out the best in them. His knowledge of antiques was extensive as was his ability in floral arranging. However, his greatest desire was to serve His Lord and serve he did. For many years, Roger Louis volunteered through his church, FBNO, cooking and serving meals to the homeless in this community as well as gathering clothing for the many shelters. He helped package meals for the homebound members the church serves. He gave his time and energy to the NATF for several years in many capacities as well as the American Heart Association. Everywhere he shared his time, energy and talent he brought joy, laughter, love and compassion. This is his legacy. He will be remembered by the many lives he touched along his journey.
A memorial service for Roger Louis will be held Sunday, January 19, 2014 at First Baptist New Orleans located at 5290 Canal Blvd. beginning at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to First Baptist New Orleans in care of Care Effect Ministry or NATF on 2600 Tulane Ave.
