Ruben Francis Ochoa, age 104, entered into Heaven to be with his Lord on Saturday, October 22, 2011. He was the beloved husband of the late Cecelia H. Ochoa for 63 years. He was the loving father of Cynthia O. Moscona (Joseph - deceased) and grandfather of Benjamin S. Moscona (Kathryn). A native of New Orleans, LA, he married Cecelia in 1927 and lived in the French Quarter for 23 years. Later he and Cecelia moved to the Mid City area where they raised their daughter, Cynthia. During their twilight years, Ruben and Cecelia happily settled in Metairie. Ruben was drafted in 1941 and proudly served his country as a medic during World War II. He worked as a type setter for over 40 years in the French Quarter. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors. He also loved to dance with his wife. Ruben was a very religious man who loved God and family; a gentle and kind soul, he enjoyed a long and happy life. May he rest in peace. Many thanks to Brandon Johnson, Diana Denny, Delta Home Heath, Dr. Miguel Rivera, Dr. Michael Ng and the emergency room staff of East Jefferson General Hospital for giving our beloved father and grandfather such wonderful care. Family and friends are invited to the visitation Friday, October 28th, 2011 between 6:00 and 9:00 PM and Saturday, October 29th beginning at 9:00 AM with a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in the chapel at Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, New Orleans. Interment will be at Cypress Grove Cemetery. Please sign the guestbook at www.schoencanalstreet.com
