William John Lestrade

William John Lestrade, “Billy”, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 27, 2013 in Metairie, LA., at the age of 65. He was a lifelong resident of Bucktown, LA and commercial fisherman. Billy also served our country for several years as a reservist in the Louisiana National Guard.

Billy was preceded in death by his father, Edward T. Lestrade, Sr., and great-nephew Nathan P. Dayries. He is survived by his mother, Elaine Schaefer Lestrade, brother Edward (Georgette), sister Darleen (Paul) and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Billy will long be remembered for his generous heart and kind spirit, as reflected in his devoted care and mentorship of several youth, including his great-nephews, in his life’s passion- fishing and hunting. Billy was happiest when he was fishing or trawling in his boat out on the lake.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Service in the Chapel of Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St.; on Friday, August 2 2013 at 12:00 pm.
