Barbara Mae Long

Barbara, 92, passed away November 5, 2022 at the home of her granddaughter Samantha, in Tazewell, TN.

Barbara was born in Newry, Maine to Albertine Ameila StCyr and Sylvan Waite, Sr. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Morgan Long, her daughter, Maureen VanBenthuysen, her sisters Gloria Waite Brown and Georgia Waite Garcia, and brother Sylvan "Dick" Waite and her stepson Morgan "Keith" Long and by Kathleen Rexroad (Con).

She is survived by her sons Timothy VanBenthuysen and Doug Vann (Deb) both of Westover, Md., her daughter, T. Michelle Long in O' Brien, FL, and her grandchildren, Doug VanBenthuysen Jr, Samantha Mitchell (Mike) of Tazewell TN, R. Skylar Long, Live Oak FL, Benjamin Vann, of Maryland, Dustyn Pepper, of Sneedville TN, Miranda Marie Pepper, and Christian "CJ" Pepper, O' Brien, Fl, also Kevin Long, of MD, Rebecca Long, Amanda Rakowski, Cape Coral, FL and Thomas Long of MD. and 18 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Barbara worked several different style jobs, working in restaurants, was once the fastest short order cook in the state of Maine, farming, worked for Rubberset, Grumman, English's Catering, Food City, and also owned Nana's Snack Shop. She loved working with the public.

She has traveled many places throughout the US and traveled around the world, including living in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Africa for several years.

Barbara was a strong woman of faith and belonged to Gethsemane Church in Live Oak, Florida. She touched many lives over the years and will be greatly missed. She taught many of us about having strength, showing love and how to live by faith. She will be greatly missed.
