

Mrs. Barbara H. Payne age 79 of Knoxville, was born March 6, 1933 passed away on June 1, 2012. The most important part of her life was being a grandmother. As a young girl she moved with her mother and stepfather to OakRidge during WWII and after the war they moved to Claiborne county were she graduated from Claiborne County high school and soon after that married the love of her life Robert “Phil” Payne and they moved to Kingsport briefly then on to Clinton Tennessee to raise their family. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Clinton, was a member of the Jaycees, she was a girl scout leader , she also supported many charities including the humane society and local firefighters. She was a retired medical Librarian from Blount Memorial Hospital, was employed at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge for 25 years, she was a member of the Medical Librarian Association with T.H.A. Preceded in death by her husband Robert T. Payne of 60 years; father and mother Hugh Hunter and Ruby Gelbert , Grandson Adam Justin Payne and Granddaughter Allison Carrie Reep and sister Nancy Williams.

The family will receive friends Tuesday June 5, 2012 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at the Coffey Funeral Home in New Tazewell, TN with the Graveside service to follow at 1:00pm in the Fairview cemetery.
