Dan Ray Campbell

Dan Ray Campbell – age 73, of New Tazewell, TN, passed away at his home on Monday, July 20, 2015. He was a lifelong member of Lone Mountain United Methodist Church. He farmed on Lone Mountain his entire life. Dan served as county commissioner for his district for several years and as sheriff of Claiborne County from 1979-1980. He was very supportive of both his children and his grandchildren with their 4-H projects and was involved with them for more than 25 years combined. He absolutely loved helping his girls get their steers ready to show. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Graham and Ethel Leabow Campbell of Lone Mountain, TN; his four brothers, Ben, Swan, Bill and Bob Campbell; and his nephew, Ben Campbell, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Judy Young Campbell; children Saundra (Joseph) Jay, Wake Forest, NC, Susan (Franklin) Harvey and Shannon Campbell, of New Tazewell, TN, and Sally (Gerald) Lowery, Kodak, TN; his grandchildren who he loved so dearly, Courtney (Andrew) Morris, New Tazewell, TN; Chelsey and David Harvey, New Tazewell, TN; and Graham Campbell, Wake Forest, NC; his great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Hunter and Gunnar Morris, of New Tazewell, TN; his mother-in-law, Hattie Mae Young of Tazewell, TN; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at Coffey Funeral Home, New Tazewell, TN. Funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. at Coffey Funeral Home with Rev. Lawrence Fultz and Rev. Dennis Fox officiating. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 23, 2015 at the Campbell Family Cemetery on Bear Creek Road. Pallbearers will be Jackson Barnard, Robert Brooks, Stacey Crawford, Toby Duncan, Tony Duncan, TJ Turner, Doug Venable and Steve Wells.
