Edith M Smith

Edith Mamie Brooks Smith, age 93, of Powell TN, passed away on Saturday September 27, 2025. Edith was born at home on February 24, 1932 in the Cave Springs Community of Claiborne County. She was a lifelong seamstress, who was self-taught and did both professional tailoring and personal gifts for family and friends. Edith also knitted and crocheted; she was a master of many textile art forms. Her greatest passion was being a mother and grandmother.

Edith is survived by her son Mike (Rena) Dean. Grandsons Michael Dean-Morton (John) and Mark Samuel. Granddaughter Brandy (Bruce) Pearl. Great grandson Marcus Samuel. Great granddaughters Brandy Linn Samuel, Alley Samuel, and Gracie Samuel. Sisters Inez Davis and Nadio Brooks. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Jasper and Viola Brooks. Husband Harvey Smith. Siblings Marie, Edna, Lawrence, Dee, Kenneth, and Tony.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday October 1, 2025 from 12 until 2 PM at Coffey Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2 PM in the Coffey Funeral Home chapel. A graveside service will follow in the Bethel Cemetery.
