Helen Mae Parks

Helen Mae Hammett-Young-Parks age 94 of Harrogate, TN went home to be with the Lord on Saturday October 1st, 2016 at Elmcroft Assisted Living of Halls after a long illness with Alzheimer’s. She was born on May 25, 1922 in Great Falls, South Carolina. She grew up in Great Falls, South Carolina and graduated from Great Falls High School. She went to school and got her RN degree in nursing. She was a Nursing Supervisor at ARH Appalachian regional Hospital in Middlesboro, Kentucky for over 3 years. After her first husband Bill Young passed away, she remarried and moved to Harrogate, Tennessee with her husband Lester Parks. She was a member of Shawanee Baptist Church for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, John T. Hammett and Sadie Nora Hammett; her husbands, Willard (Bill) Young, Lester Parks, and brother Marshall T. Hammett.

She is survived by her brother, Charles P. Hammett and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all the CNAs, nurses and staff at Elmcroft Assisted Living of Halls for loving on Helen, and taking such good care of her the past two years. We would also like to thank U.T. Hospice for all their wonderful care. Receiving of friends will be at 10:00 a.m. and funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Coffey Funeral Home in Harrogate , TN. Entombment services immediately following at Green Hills Cemetery.
