

Herbert Henry Hopkins, age 78, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2025. He was born in Hancock County on June 7, 1947 and professed faith in Jesus Christ at an early age. He was the son of the late Isaac Barney Hopkins and late Mary Ellen Payne Hopkins. In addition to his parents, Herb was preceded in death by his daughter, Janice Kaye Hopkins; his sisters, Dora Buchanan and Debbie Hopkins; and his brothers, Harold Hopkins and Charlie Hopkins. Also, nephews Larry Hopkins and Tony Trent.
Herb was raised in the Mulberry Gap community, where he learned the values of hard work while farming and threshing wheat. A true outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. He was also a dedicated Tennessee Vols fan. Above all, Herb treasured time with his family. He especially loved playing card games with his children and grandchildren. Herb spent many years working for the Douglas County Water Service Authority before retiring. His gentle nature and warm smile will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Cherishing his memory are his wife, Barbara Hooper Hopkins of Silver Creek, Georgia; his daughter and son-in-law, Aileen and Clyde Culberson of Dallas, Georgia; his sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Nancy Hopkins of Dallas, Georgia; Tom and Regina Hopkins of Hancock County, Tennessee; and Andy Hopkins of Hancock County, Tennessee. He is also survived by his stepsons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Tonya Bouldin of Crossville, Alabama, and Gary and Sonya Bouldin of Crossville, Alabama.
He is also survived by his sister whom he loved dearly and her husband, Donna and David Manning.
Herb leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Cole Moore, Megan Hannah, Kimberly Edge, P.J. Gazaway, Ashley Culberson, Jadon Hopkins, Ashlynn Hopkins, Christian Trivette, Megan Corbitt, Abigail Trivette, Brett Bouldin, Blake Bouldin, Brady Bouldin, and Abby Burns, along with ten great-grandchildren and many extended family members.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM, with a funeral service to follow at 6:00PM at Coffey Funeral Home in New Tazewell, TN.
The service will be officiated by Reverend Dennis Jones and Michael Manning. Special music will be provided by Judy and Billy McMurry and Jason Hopkins. Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 11, at the Hopkins/Ramsey Cemetery in Hancock County, TN.
