

James "Marvin" Butcher, a beloved resident of New Tazewell, Tennessee, passed away on December 21, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on July 14, 1956, in Middlesboro, Kentucky. Marvin was saved at Duncan Chapel Missionary Baptist Church on March 6, 2005, where he became a member. Marvin was known for his humorous, hard-working, and kind-hearted nature. He was a man of honesty, deeply family-oriented, faithful, generous, devoted, selfless, and had a mischievous spirit.
Throughout his career, Marvin was a devoted employee and trainer at England's. Even after retirement, his dedication did not waver as he continued to work at Giles trailer park in maintenance, showcasing his hard-working and selfless traits.
Marvin had a loving way of picking on people, a testament to his humorous and mischievous personality. He enjoyed piddling around, visiting with family, especially his mother, and cherished the times spent at flea markets with his brother Larry, reflecting his family-oriented and generous spirit.
Marvin Butcher will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his generous heart, and his ability to bring laughter and joy into the lives of those he encountered.
He was preceded in death by his father Clyde Ray Butcher and step-father Roy Lynch.
Marvin is survived by his mother Nila Madge Lynch. Daughter Jamie Ann (Lonnie) Wilder. Grandchildren Derek Michael (Macaley) Goins, Madison Grace Wilder, and John William Wilder. Great Grandchildren Remington Goins, Emrielle Goins, and Camden Wilder. Brothers Tommy Ray Butcher and Larry Joe (Debbie) Butcher. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday December 27, 2025 from 10 AM until 1 PM at Coffey Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1 PM in the Coffey Funeral Home chapel. A graveside service will follow in Campbell Cemetery.
