Linville (Sonny) McKinley Morguson was born on August 20th, 1946, to his parents, Woodford and Olga Caldwell Morguson, in Winchester, KY. He departed this life on June 22nd, 2025, at the age of 78 years, 9 months and 28 days. He was known to his family as “Big Paw”, which he loved so much.
Big Paw joined the United States Army in 1968 and fought proudly for his family and the United States until his retirement with 23 years of service. He was assigned in Vietnam, Germany, Korea and Crete during this period. After his retirement, he was employed by the Norfolk Western Railroad and then the next 25 years with Peru Amateur Circus. Big Paw was blessed with a God-given talent as an artist and painter. He loved creating many drawings and paintings, with one of his favorite paintings being displayed here today.
Big Paw was married in 1967 to Ethel Huffman, who preceded him in death, and to this union were born three children. Also preceding him in death is one brother, Howard Morguson.
He was married to Delores Green Brown Morguson in 2011 until his death, with this union lasting 14 years.
Big Paw leaves behind five children: John (Jennifer) Brown of Pineville, KY, Brandon (Karen) Brown of New Tazwell, TN, Bill (Joann) Brown of Pineville, KY, James Brown of New Tazwell, TN, and Charlotte (Danny) Vaughn of Middlesboro, KY; one sister, Mary (DeWayne) Mattaush of Willis, MI; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends to mourn his passing.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 27, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with the funeral service to begin at 7:00 PM. Graveside services with full military honors will be Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Fairview Cemetery. If attending the graveside service, please meet at the cemetery.
