

Sharron Gail Hurst McGuire of Houston TX formerly of Tazewell TN was born November 29, 1962 the daughter of Kenneth & Ruby Whitaker Hurst. Sharron passed away February 2, 2016 at Methodist Hospital in Houston TX.
In Houston, Northwest Assistance Ministries employed her as case manager where recently she won the Shining Star Award. Previously, when living in Chattanooga TN, Sharron was an employee of the Hamilton County Health Department where she received the Employee of the Year Award for her outstanding work. Sharron also worked for Habitat for Humanity while in Chattanooga and as a volunteer in Houston. Habitat work was important to her. She continued to volunteer for Habitat up until her death. In Chattanooga, Sharron was an active member of Avondale Baptist Church. She worked in the Angel Food Program and was a firm believer in social values that involved helping others less fortunate. Sharron received a Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Tennessee and was a licensed social worker. She did post graduate work at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
In addition to her parents, Sharron was preceded in death by brothers Kenneth (Buddy) Hurst and Dennis Hurst; sister, Wanda Johnson; nephew B.J. Long.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Stephen McGuire of Houston TX; sons Kenneth McGuire of Chattanooga TN, Benjamin and Jeffrey McGuire both of Houston TX; sisters Lucille Moyers and fiancé James Allen of Speedwell TN, Joyce Young and husband Douglas of Tazewell TN; brother in law Bob Johnson of Tazewell; Stephen’s parents, William and Mildred McGuire of Chattanooga TN; Stephen’s brother and wife, Greg and May May McGuire of Chattanooga; Special niece Leigh Young of Houston TX who was such a help during Sharron’s ordeal, visiting her in the hospital nearly every day; several nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
Funeral services to be held at 5:00 PM, Sunday, February 7 at Coffey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Jim Blevins officiating. Singers are Living Water. Burial at 9:00 AM Monday, February 8 in Cave Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers: sons, Kent, Ben & Jeff Mcguire, nephews, Doug Long, Matthew Young, Michael & Cody Lemarr.
