We would like to express our most heartfelt condolences to the family on the passing of Allen. The deeply saddening news came so unexpectedly and has hit us very hard. Over the years we absolutely admired, but also somehow took for granted, Allen’s exceptional passion for science and his excellence in implementing it to solve real life problems.

We have enjoyed many long discussions with Allen about science, politics or life in general, which will now become fond memories. Despite being so devoted to his goals as a company leader and focused on delivering the best possible outcome in every project, he never stopped being a deeply compassionate human being. This made him not only our boss, but also a truly wonderful leader and role model in our eyes.

Over the years Allen has been both a wonderful mentor and friend, who will truly be missed. It is very rare to find one individual with so many excellent qualities, which makes us value the time we shared with Allen so much more.

We believe he left a lasting legacy, not only with his remarkable scientific accomplishments and great inventions, but also in everything he taught us, his team, over the years. We are truly honored that we were able to work with him and have no doubt that the best way to honor Allen and his legacy is to double our efforts to deliver the fruits of his outstanding work in developing better treatments for cancer.

My deepest condolences on the passing of Allen. While we knew each other through business for several years, I had the great privilege of working closely with him for the last several months. His passion for his work and his constant optimism were an inspiration.

On our last business trip to Heidelberg, he was struggling a bit physically but was wonderfully effective in both the business and social aspects of our interactions. He had carried a bunch of Red Sox hats with him and these were much appreciated. We shared some wonderful home-style German meals and local wines.

The recent outstanding results and patent filings are a tribute to Allen and his team and I am determined to do everything possible to help this work to continue and make a real difference in the treatment of cancer.
