Oh no . I didn’t know anything. I though she was ok . Taking care herself in Long Island . With this pandemia . She wanted to do things with me and now she’s gone . I’m gonna miss her greatly. What a sad news 🙁.

My Dear Genius Friend of 12 years, Barbara,and I both have a thing for flamingos…especially in her musical extravaganza with scenes at the Flamingo Hotel…so I bought us both these sweet blouses with detailed fancy flamingos!!! We were walking advertisements for her Liberace Musical!!! And one of the terrific songs in it is “Too Much Is Never Enough”, sung by the Sophie Tucker character…and that title suits our Barbara to a T… Too Much of Barbara was NEVER ENOUGH!!! We love you to infinity…❤️❤️

Barbara and I had many conversations over the years, and we would constantly go off on tangents.  One of our more recent "tangential journeys" took us to the subject of cemeteries.  I think this conversation happened about two months ago.  Barbara casually mentioned that she will be buried at New Montefiore Cemetery, and I immediately said, "Are you kidding?  Most of my family is buried at New Montefiore!"  "BB" sort of giggled at this, and as she was processing this coincidence, I told her that the actress Mae Questel is buried at New Montefiore, and that she was the voice of Betty Boop.  Barbara loved the idea that she and Betty Boop would be resting in the same cemetery.  I went on to tell her that Abe Beame, the former mayor of NYC was also buried at New Montefiore.  "BB" had a change of mood instantly, and went on about how disappointed she was in the former mayor, and kept going on about it; I changed the subject back to Betty Boop, and Barbara became sunshine and laughter again.  

I  met Barbara and Ron about five years ago at a dinner party held by Ada Samuelsson.  Barbara and I were seated together and once we started talking we never stopped....the conversation only had pauses between our phone calls and in person meetings.  If you were Barbara's friend you felt like family - it is such a blessing to have known Barbara.  I will miss her tremendously.  

Barbara was like a second mom to me from when I was a child.  She was one of my most favorite people and I’m so thankful for all of the memories I have.  I will miss her terribly but she will be in my heart forever.  I’m so thankful she was a part of my life 

Many years ago (2007) I went to BB's Apt to help her with the computer.  While I was fixing the computer she stopped in and said that I looked hungry and wanted to make me lunch.   I replied sure and asked, "who’s that woman singing.  She sounds like Barbara Streisand".    She said, "Didn’t I tell you her sister is here singing my music for the Broadway show?"  She said it’s so casual and I followed her to  get a sandwich and Roslyn Kind sang her song right in front of me with a piano player as I ate lunch.  I had a front row seat!  🎤🎹🎵  That was a miraculous lunch break during my normal workday at a large multimedia customer.

Barbara was a woman of valor and full of powerful love and grace. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and I always felt like I belonged when she shared a story, picture, or just her time with me. 

The first time I met Barbara, we were at an industry reading of a new play, and a mutual friend decided that I needed to be introduced to Barbara Sickmen.  The first thing I noticed were her gold lame "UGGS" and that warm smile that could always light up a room.  We were immediate friends, and whenever I wanted to make her really laugh, I would remind her that very few people could carry off wearing gold lame UGGS...and that was among her many talents.  I will miss my beloved Barbara.  I will always consider myself blessed to have had her in my life.  I am so grateful that we had lunch together just a few weeks ago...truly a spur of the moment plan.   As always, we talked theatre, politics and going gluten free...and always Liberace. I loved Barbara very much. She was a kind, friendly and incredible friend to have, and I was honored to have her in my life. She was a fixture at our company holiday parties and everyone who met her loved her instantly. Her theatrical knowledge and talent was matched by none, as evident by her incredible body of work in particular "Ben, Virginia and Me", which I was honored to attend and of which I enjoyed every second. 
She spoke often and lovingly of Ron and her beautiful family, and I extend them my heartfelt condolences. 
May God comfort you among the other mourners of Zion and Jerusalem, and may your and our darling Barbara Rest in Peace.
