

Bernard Gitlow, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, born in New York City New York, passed away Dec 16, 2021 at the age of 95 at Lenox Hill hospital in NYC.
He will be buried at Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Ave, Paramus N.J. on December 19, 2021 at 11AM. Bernard was married to Raya Gitlow who predeceased him in February 2019. Bernard leaves behind two daughters and their husbands, Lynn and Dennis and Elizabeth and Stephen. A granddaughter Samantha and her husband Kyle and three great grandchildren, Worth, Tiller and Wright.
Bernard Gitlow was president and Director of Rentex Services Corporation. Throughout his life, his work defined him as an esteemed member of the business sector, a role which he loved as much as he was loved by the people with whom he worked.
Bernard was an active sports enthusiast, often seen in the swimming pool and competing with opponents on the golf, racquetball, and tennis courts. He and Raya loved traveling and got to see much of the world together. Bernard was also an avid follower of politics.
He was respected and greatly loved by his devoted family, especially his two daughters and their husbands, His granddaughter and her husband and his three great grandchildren. In his last years, he was meticulously and lovingly cared for by Tuttie Policarpio, Jocelyn Soriano , Eva Bauzon, Bernadette Santox, Cely Calaro, Charito Manolo and Rita Ortego. He came to refer to them as G’s angels. Tuttie was especially beloved by him and was his confidant in his last years.
He loved people, often stopping to chat with the bus driver, lingering in the taxi to chuckle with the driver, or just saying hello to people who, similar to him, loved to watch the boats on the East River each day. His loyal friend, Teddy Cohen was also a large part of his life. Bernard had a big presence in the world of those who loved him. While he lived a long and wonderful life he will be greatly missed.
A graveside service for Bernard will be held Sunday, December 19, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus, NJ 07652.
