The family and friends of Claudia Deutsch mourn the passing of a great human being after a gallant fight with cancer. Born in 1947 to Yetta Blaser and Henry Deutsch, she was a lifelong Manhattanite (UWS-variety). Claudia was both wickedly intelligent and warm and caring. As all knew, she was very much her own person, and loved to dance, play tennis and Scrabble, and engage in a good debate; she had a zest for life! Long-time NY Times reporter in the Business Section, Claudia had a remarkable professional career. A member of the NY Financial Writers Association from 1979 until her death, she served as President in 1997. She will be deeply missed by her extended family, particularly her many cousins of all generations to whom she was most devoted, as well as her many life-long friends and professional colleagues, and the charities she supported. Contributions in her memory can be made to Dorot.
