Arrangements under the direction of Frank E. Campbell - The Funeral Chapel, New York, NY. Colleen Dunlap passed away on Friday, September 16, 2011 after a long life of challenges and triumphs. She moved to New York from Acworth, Georgia, in 2003 because of health care needs but viewed her move as an exciting new adventure to live where she had "never dreamed" rather than as a defeat. She left behind many friends in Georgia but stayed in touch by email. As one of the first new residents at Carnegie East House, she made many new friends and actively participated in the residents council and drama groups. She was blessed to have great doctors and health care professionals who took wonderful care of her. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph K. Dunlap and survived by her children, Kevin Dunlap and his fiancé, Andrea Gimber, of Dalton, GA, Susan Dunlap of Truth or Consequences, NM, Virginia (Jenni) Peace of Douglasville, GA, Wanda Wooten and her husband, Robert Oppedisano, of New York City, four grandchildren and one great grandchild. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 2:00 p.m at Rolling Hills Memory Gardens, 2334 Alabama Rd., Acworth, GA. A memorial in New York City is planned for later. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center, isaacscenter.org or Carnegie East House, carnegieeast.org.
