

1936 - 2018, passed away peacefully at home on July 4th after a brief battle with cancer. "Liz," as she was affectionately called, was known for her love for her family and friends in both the United Kingdom and New York. Elizabeth was happiest on the deck of her summer home overlooking Shelter Island Sound at sunset or weeding her garden in West Sussex. She was a loyal alumna of Smith College and served as President of the Smith Club of London for many years. Elizabeth was a gifted athlete who skied all her life and enjoyed a weekly doubles game at the Hurlingham Club through her seventies. Elizabeth was a proud American and Independence Day was her favorite holiday. Elizabeth is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Maurice, her son Marc Pinto, daughter Lisa Pinto Wimer and their respective spouses Margot and Paul, grandchildren Hannah, Adam, Matthew, Mo Pinto, Otto, Alex and Charlotte Wimer and her brothers Benedict Cooley, Frederick Cooley and sister Rebecca Etcheverry. The service to celebrate the life of Elizabeth Pinto will be held at 10am on Monday, July 9, at the Brick Presbyterian Church located at 1140 Park Avenue. The burial service will be conducted at 11am on July 10 at the Shelter Island Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
