Eric Duldulao Javier

Entered into Eternal Life: November 4, 2022 

Eric D. Javier passed away peacefully on November 4, 2022 at the age of 92, in New York City. He was born to Gonzalo and Amparo Javier on May 18, 1930 in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. He was the 7th of 13 siblings.

  Eric was a faithful Catholic and brilliant student, receiving his degrees in philosophy and literature, and then a Masters in Education Administration at Fordham University after he immigrated to the United States in 1966.  He was a teacher, educator, and mentor in every sense. He taught for more than 40 years, with the majority of his career as a Spanish teacher and Vice Principal at Evander Childs High School in the Bronx, New York.

  Eric married his soul mate and love of his life, Marietta “Margie” Valdez in 1972 in Manhattan. They lived most of their life in Rockville Centre on Long Island before “retiring” to Manhattan in 2003. Together they built a full and happy life together, filled with frequent travel, leadership in their communities, and abundant time with family and friends.

  Together they had a son, Eric Benedict, and were overjoyed when their family grew to include their daughter-in-law, Kristin Kelly. As he grew older nothing made Eric happier than fulfilling his role as “Lolo” and spending time adoringly with his “apo” – his granddaughters, Carolina and Annabella.

  Eric was a fountain of love, wisdom, compassion, advice, patience, and warmth for people from every part of his life: siblings, nephews and nieces, extended family, neighbors, and friends. The impact he made in the lives of so many is immeasurable.

  His Wake will be held on Thursday, November 10th from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home in Manhattan. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 11th at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Manhattan.

  In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.

A visitation for Eric will be held Thursday, November 10, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Frank E. Campbell - The Funeral Chapel, 1076 Madison Ave, New York, NY 10028. A visitation will occur Thursday, November 10, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, 1076 Madison Ave, New York, NY 10028. A funeral service will occur Friday, November 11, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 348 East 55th Street, New York, NY 10022.
